To help you create this simple change in your home, we have a tutorial on how to make mudcloth pillows.
What is Mudcloth?
Mudcloth is a textile that dates back many centuries. It originates in West Africa and is created by dyeing cloth with mashed n’gallama tree leaves. These leaves create a yellow color on the fabric.
Then the fabric is painted with fermented riverbed mud. This mud reacts with the dye so that even when washed, the pattern remains.
Different patterns are associated with the mudcloth design. These patterns each represent something. View the chart below for a few examples.
Although the original mudcloth is created through this process, the pattern has been recreated in more modern decor. Today we have a tutorial on how to create 2 types of mudcloth pillows. We then have 5 additional mudcloth ideas you can use as inspiration.
